EUGEN SYSTEM UNVEILS WANO AS ITS UPCOMING WAR 3 RTS
Eugen Systems, a developer and publisher of Wargame series, has revealed WARNO (“Warning Order”) as its upcoming World War 3 RTS title. The title, which will be available in Steam Early Access starting January 20, 2022, explores a scenario where the Cold War escalated instead of ending in 1989, with NATO and Warsaw Pact forces taking up arms.
WARNO’s Steam Early Access edition is described as the spiritual successor to the Wargame series. It will launch with two of six playable factions, the US forces on NATO side and the Soviet Army on Warsaw Pact side. There is also a multiplayer mode that supports 1v1 or 10v10 matches. Additionally, there will be a Skirmish mode where players can fight the AI either on their own, or in co-op.
WARNO’s full edition will include more features, such as East Germany joining the Warsaw Pact to play a faction, and NATO’s forces being bolstered with West Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.
Each faction will have its own unique list of units, starting “conscripts” and main battle tank to mobile SAM system, self-propelled gunnery, mobile SAM systems, scout helicopters and strike aircraft. For a total 600+ picks.
Along with more specific scripted operations, four turn-based strategic Army General Campaigns are planned. Multiplayer support will be available for 2v2 or 4v4 matches.
The current goal of the developer is to “have WARNO’s basic scope completed within six months,” then release full-version of the game after six to eight months, provided that player feedback is positive. After the early access period is over, content for post-launch will be planned.
To keep up with WARNO’s progress, you can wishlist WARNO on Steam. Watch tanks, helicopters and artillery explode stuff in the 80s-inspired trailer below.
