- RimWorld is a narrative generator. It’s designed to co-author tragic, twisted, and triumphant tales about imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, starvation, and survival. Colonists grow — and ruin — relationships. Each has a notion of others, which decides whether they’ll become fans, marry, cheat, or struggle. Maybe your two greatest colonists are married — until one of them falls for the dashing surgeon who saved from a gunshot wound.
The game creates a whole world from pole to equator. You choose whether to property your crash pods in a chilly northern tundra, a parched desert flat, a temperate woods, or a steaming equatorial jungle. Different regions have different animals, plants, diseases, temperatures, rainfall, mineral sources, and even terrain. These challenges of surviving in a disease-infested, choking jungle are extremely different from people in a parched desert wasteland or even a tundra using a two-month growing season.
Travel Throughout Earth. You are not stuck in one area. You can form a caravan of individuals, animals, and offenders. Rescue kidnapped former allies from pirate outposts, attend peace talks, commerce with different factions, attack enemy colonies, and complete other quests. You can even package up your entire colony and proceed to a new location. You can use the rocket-powered transportation pods to travel quicker.
You can train and tame animals. Lovable pets will cheer up unhappy colonists. Farm animals can be worked, milked, and sheared. Attack beasts could be published upon your enemies. Many animals — cats, labrador retrievers, grizzly bears, camels, cougars, chinchillas, chickens, and exotic alien-like lifeforms.
Men and women in RimWorld always notice their situation and environment to choose how to feel at any given moment. They react to hunger and fatigue, witnessing death, disrespectfully unburied corpses, being wounded, being abandoned in darkness, getting packed into cramped environments, sleeping outdoors or in precisely the same area as a person, and many other situations. If they are too stressed, they may lash out or break down.
Wounds, diseases, prosthetics, and chronic conditions are tracked on each body area and affect the characters’ capacities. Eye injuries make it difficult to shoot or do surgery. Wounded legs slow people down. Hands, brain, mouth, heart, liver, kidneys, stomach, feet, fingers, feet, and more can be hurt, diseased, or overlooked, and most importantly, have logical in-game consequences.
