Frontier Developments published Elite Dangerous, a space-flight simulation video game. Elite Dangerous was released in 2014. It began in the year 3303. Since then, it has run until the year 3305. The game has also been running in sync with UTC for 1286 years. This game takes place 45 years after Frontier: First Encounters. Elite Dangerous maintains the same basic concept as previous games. Players start with a spaceship, some money and must navigate an open galaxy to find their way. They can trade, mine, bounty-hunt, pirate, or assassinate.
Online multiplayer is the first feature of the game. Players have access to both a persistent, massively multiplayer world and an online-only single-player mode. Eve Online’s Open Play is very similar in that you can do many things in the game which are considered griefing in other multiplayer online games. However, you must attach a valid roleplaying reason. Examples of such actions include extortion, theft, blocking star systems by the blockade, or other similar methods. Some actions, like “mob mentality,” persecution of players, or exploiting the mechanics of the games (such as quitting the fight in the middle to avoid death), are not permitted and could lead to a ban from the main server.
