Forza Horizon 4 is an open-world racing video game that takes place in an open-world environment. It features more than 450 licensed cars and includes condensed representations such as Edinburgh, Derwentwater, and the Lake District. A route creator allows players to create their own race. In-game houses can be purchased to unlock new cars, items, and other game-play perks. A dynamic weather system is part of the game that shows how seasons change. The season will affect how the environment changes. For example, Derwentwater in winter would freeze, and players would be able to drive on the ice to access areas that are not accessible during the other seasons. All players will experience the same environment because the seasons are set across all servers.
