Nintendo is slowly building their own cinematic universe
Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that Nintendo is slowly expanding their movie lineup. Although we haven’t heard anything about the upcoming Super Mario movie by IIllumination, which is scheduled to release on December 21st 2022, Miyamoto shared his thoughts about a future cinematic universe.
They discussed progress on the upcoming adaptation in an interview with David Gibson. He confirmed that the Super Mario movie development is complete and expressed confidence about the movie’s success.

Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is trying to meet fan expectations and does not want to disappoint them. They will be making the movies one at a time, rather than multiple projects simultaneously. Fans who are looking for information about Nintendo’s next adaptation of Super Mario will have to wait until after the movie.
According to rumours, Nintendo and Illumination are collaborating again on the Donkey Kong movie. Giant Freakin Robot claims that Seth Rogen will once again voice DK. He’s confirmed for the original movie. Side characters may be introduced before they get their own movie.
