THE ELDER SCROLLS 6 “HAS GOT to BE A ‘DECADE GAMES'”, WILL LIKELY BE EXCLUSIVE TO XBOX
Similar to Starfield it took The Elder Scrolls 6 just one brief trailer to get the internet talking about how it might play, what it might look like, and whether it will launch as an Xbox Exclusive.
The topic of the latter became an issue after Microsoft purchased Bethesda’s parent company, Zenimax Online Media in late 2020. This was more than two years after The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced. Although the game is still many years away, and we don’t know much about it, Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, suggested in an interview that the eagerly awaited RPG would likely be exclusive to Xbox.
Spencer stated that it’s not about punishing other platforms, as I believe all platforms can continue their growth,” Spencer said during an interview with Q. “But, in order to be on Xbox I want us be able to bring all of our products. That would also be true when I consider Elder Scrolls VI. This would also hold true for any of our franchises. “
While little else is known about The Elder Scrolls 6 at this point, Game Director Todd Howard suggested that Bethesda Game Studios is currently designing. He noted that the next RPG would need to follow the lead of The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, which is still being played and re-released every ten years.
“It would drive me insane to try to say, ‘Okay, this thing you have to over,’” Howard stated, referring to Skyrim’s longevity. The Elder Scrolls VI is a “decade game”, you realize. How can you make a game that you play for 10 years? ‘”
Although the Elder Scrolls 6 might not launch in the first decade of this decade, Howard stated that the “ultimate objective” is the same as that of previous entries in the series: To take advantage of technological advances and immerse users in its world.
“You read a review about the first Elder Scrolls. The Elder Scrolls IV is Oblivion’s review. Then you read The Elder Scrolls V, Skyrim’s. A few things are blacked out. No matter whether or not The Elder Scrolls 6 is an Xbox exclusive, Starfield has been confirmed and will launch first with 150,000 lines of dialogue .
