Magikarp is the fish representation of “you tried,” It is one of the weakest Pokemon found in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. It can barely attack enemies. Magikarp is an example of this. He was a Gyarados, but even the ugly ducklings can look beautiful.

Magikarp is most often found near water bodies using an Old Rod. It’s straightforward to capture them; one Poke Ball should suffice to add them to the Pokedex.

Magikarp may learn a few moves, such as Tackle, but the best way to get them to evolve into Gyarados, a vital Water, and Flying Pokemon. You will need to raise Magikarp to Level 20.

It is straightforward to level up Magikarp with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. All Pokemon in your party will receive a share in the EXP, even if they do not participate in battles. Keep Magikarp in the party, and they’ll eventually evolve into Gyarados.

Remember that Gyarados is also available in the wild at the end of the game, so leveling up might not be worthwhile.
