CIVIL WAR GAME CRY OF FREEDOM ARRIVES THE NEXT YEAR, ITS MASSIVE BATTLES SUPPORTING UP to 300 PLAYERS
Flying Squirrel Entertainment, publisher and developer of the Civil War game Battle Cry of Freedom, has announced its arrival on PC in the first quarter of 2021 after ten years of development.
The developer is best known for its work with Mount & Blade: Warband’s Napoleonic Wars expansion. He aims to achieve “a unique equilibrium between historical accuracy and gameplay” in Battle Cry of Freedom. This game lets up to 300 players compete across 14 huge battlefields inspired by real North American locations.
After choosing to side with the Union or Confederacy, players can select “dozens” of classes. Each class has its loadout and mission. You’ll be an infantryman and fight on the frontlines while elite sharpshooters support you.
Engineers build barricades, dig trenches and rig explosives while drummers raise morale. Drummers also help to boost confidence. This title includes 120 weapons and 70 types of ammunition. There are also 20 artillery pieces. The latter are skilled at killing soldiers, while the former excels in destroying Battle Cry of Freedom’s environments.
Weather effects and dynamic time of day allow soldiers to fight through rain, fog, and storms that impact visibility and ballistics. A set of tools will be available to players that will enable them to create their maps and a random generator.
