Wacatac.B.ml was detected for the first time by players back in June, but developers did not seem to take action until well past a month later. PC Gamer also stated that this malware is “coded for MW2”, as per a Steam forum member.

On 26 July, a tweet was posted announcing that the servers would be shutting down. Steam’s servers are still offline as of 31 July. We don’t know how long the temporary shutdown will last, but we are keeping an eye on it.

The user (via Xfire) claimed that “it is currently done using a pair system.” This means the remaster runs using both an Unreal Engine5 project and the old Oblivion project. “For instance, new graphics are rendered in the UE5 project, but most of the gameplay/physics/etc. [are] still done in Oblivion. The release date will depend on whether it is a remaster or remake. The majority of the work is done in Paris. Black Shamrock helps with the artwork as well.”

The post was removed and the Reddit page that published it was also deleted. However, one subreddit moderator has apparently confirmed the identity of this individual as a former studio employee. Take it all with a grain of salt.
