Description
Driver: San Francisco is an Action, Adventure, Racing video game. One of the new features is Shift which lets Tanner transfer from one vehicle to the next without halting his mission.
One of the main inspirations for Shift is Google Earth. Shift was also called a “return to the roots” of the series. Its possibility of getting out of the vehicle, as first introduced with Driver 2, was removed and replaced by the capability to shift (teleport) into different cars since the designers thought that many games already had this type of feature, as well and “it wasn’t desirable [for us] to just copy that exact mechanic”.
By using Shift, a player is also able to start games. Alongside the possibility to make use of Shift, every car is equipped with a boost feature that requires the user to press up on their left thumbstick in order to activate the feature. Users can push the L1 button for the PlayStation 3 or the left shoulder button in the Xbox 360 version of the game to trigger a unique “ram” attack on vehicles.
Film director mode, absent in Parallel Lines, also returns as well and players are able to share their video clips via the Driver Club website. The game plays at 60 frames every second.
